The Oak Ridge Boys Announce Farewell Tour After 50 Years of Harmony and History

After more than five decades of blending voices, filling arenas, and shaping the sound of American country and gospel music, The Oak Ridge Boys have announced that their next tour will be their last. The iconic quartet—known for their tight harmonies, faith-driven lyrics, and unmistakable energy—are preparing to say goodbye to the road that made them legends.

The farewell tour, titled “American Made: The Farewell Tour,” is expected to span the next year, offering longtime fans one last chance to see the group perform classic hits like “Elvira,” “Thank God for Kids,” and “Y’all Come Back Saloon.”

In a heartfelt statement, the group shared:

“We’ve been blessed to sing for millions of people over the last 50 years. But there comes a time when it’s right to take a final bow—and we feel that time is now. This isn’t goodbye to the music. It’s goodbye to the travel, the buses, and the long nights. We’re going out with gratitude in our hearts.”

Formed in the 1940s as a gospel quartet, The Oak Ridge Boys found their enduring lineup and crossover success in the 1970s and 80s, seamlessly blending country, gospel, and pop in a way few groups have achieved. Their rich four-part harmonies—anchored by Richard Sterban’s famous bass vocals—became their signature and helped define a generation of country music.

For many fans, The Oak Ridge Boys aren’t just performers—they’re part of the family. Their songs have played at weddings, church services, road trips, and backyard barbecues. Their lyrics, often rooted in faith, love, and American pride, struck a chord that transcended trends.

Over the years, the group has racked up multiple Grammy Awards, Dove Awards, and inductions into both the Country Music Hall of Fame and Gospel Music Hall of Fame. But beyond the accolades, their greatest legacy may be their consistency. Through changing times and shifting genres, they remained true to their sound and to each other.

“There’s a kind of magic when we sing together,” said lead singer Duane Allen. “We’ve never taken that for granted. And we want to celebrate that magic one more time—with the people who’ve kept us going all these years.”

The farewell tour is being planned as a celebration rather than a goodbye. Fans can expect full-length shows, storytelling, special guests, and plenty of emotion as the Boys bring their music full circle.

And while they may be stepping off the stage, The Oak Ridge Boys have made it clear: the music will live on.

“We’re not disappearing,” said Joe Bonsall in a recent interview. “We’re just closing this chapter with the same spirit we’ve always had—faith, friendship, and a song in our hearts.”

For those who grew up with their music, or simply found comfort in their harmonies along the way, this farewell is more than a tour—it’s the final verse in a long, beautiful song.
